Saying goodbye

Saying goodbye can be the hardest part — for both children and parents — but a calm, confident routine makes a big difference. We recommend keeping goodbyes short and consistent: a cuddle, a clear statement like “I’m going to work now, and I’ll be back this afternoon,” then a handover to an educator. When children can see you trust the environment, they’re more likely to feel safe too.

It’s completely normal for children to cry or cling in the early days. It doesn’t mean they won’t settle — it often means they’re attached to you and adjusting to something new. Our educators are experienced in supporting this transition and will comfort your child, help them engage in an activity, and keep them feeling secure.

If you’re feeling unsure, let us know. We can help you create a goodbye routine that suits your child, and we’re always happy to update you once they’ve settled in and started enjoying their day.
